Research and the Library: Using Resources WISely: Home

This tutorial and module will guide you through the process of library research.

In these online learning modules, you will use the C.R.A.P. method to learn about the research process.  You will also learn how to find, evaluate, and cite sources for your research assignments.

To complete this tutorial, begin at Module 1, clicking through each screen in order. At the end of each module, read and answer the self-assessment questions to see what you have learned. You may go back to review the module before moving on to the next.

At the end of the final module, you will take a quiz which assesses your knowledge of the content in all modules.

The module topics are as follows:

When you complete these modules you will be able to:

  • Navigate Willet Library, becoming familiar with the staff, operations, and resources located within
  • Use LUCY (the online catalog) effectively
  • Use Library and online databases to find appropriate resources
  • Differentiate between different types of sources and search methods
  • Identify and evaluate web resources and use them effectively and with purpose
  • Become familiar with popular citation styles
  • Understand what plagiarism is and how to cite or paraphrase as necessary
  • Use information ethically and legally to uphold Copyright law and the Wesleyan College Honor Code
