Wesleyan College Archives & Special Collections

The Lila May Chapman Bookplate Collection consists of just over 400 bookplates pasted on construction paper.  Many are labeled with the individuals or institutions name to which they belonged.

Lila May Chapman was a member of the Wesleyan College class of 1890 and a member of the Philomathean Society.  She worked as Phi Mu's National Librarian and headed the committee to build the gateways at Wesleyan College in recognition of the College's 100th birthday in 1936.  She was Director of the Birmingham Public Library from 1926 until 1947.  Ms. Chapman was elected as an Alumnae Trustee at Wesleyan College in 1933.

This collection was digitized by Kennedy Jones, Archives Assistant, 2017.
